Walking with the Holy Spirit. Part-One.

Living and Walking.

When we were once part of the world, we lived as the world did. We did not know or recognise God, as we do now.

So now that we do know God, as our Father and Jesus as our friend and Saviour we do not need to continue on as we once did.

We tend to forget that we too can walk with the Holy Spirit, who is the third person of the Trinity.

Romans 8:4-5,  Galations 5:15-16,  1 Peter 1:22,   Jude 1:19-21.

Blinkers. Part-One.

A Limited Vision.

This post is not about horse racing, which I am sure will be a disappointment  to some? No this is about ‘Christian Revival in Ireland, which many ‘Christians do not believe has occurred since 1859.

This is because they have allowed themselves to become blinkered to the movement of God around them. There where Revivals in Ireland in 1928 and 1994, but very few established Christians saw this and reacted to it.

The reasons for this lack of belief, sadly is the bigotry that plagues Ireland as a nation and peoples. Sectarianism, seclusion and hatred has stopped the power of God. This does not mean that people are not getting saved, it is just not recognized as a move of the Holy Spirit.  Act 1:8, 1 Corinthians 3:16, Jude 19.

God is moving in Africa. Part-Two.

Africa in the Bible.

The bible has much to say about Africa and its lands, peoples and kingdoms. From the beginning Africa existed and was a key player after the Noahic flood. Africa has been connected with the kings of Israel and despite its current problems Christianity is growing.

During the pouring out of the Holy Spirit in Jerusalem 2000 years ago, Africa was mentioned. God blesses peoples for theirr faith in Him and their stance to keep His truths.

Genesis 2:13,  Psalm 72:10,  Ezekiel 30:5,  38:5,  Nahum 4:9,  Mark 15:21,  Act 2:10,  6:9.

God is moving in Africa. Part-One.

100 years on.

When we look back one hundred years ago to the continent of Africa, we do not see much of God’s power at work. Yes many thousands of people were converting to ‘Christianity, but there was no out pouring of the Holy Spirit as in recent times.

It was said by many great Evangelical preachers in the UK and the U.S.A. ‘that many missionaries sent out to Africa, were doing nothing to reach the lost. But instead they were lounging around.

Today millions of people in Africa are coming to a personal knowledge and relationship of Jesus. Nations such as Uganda refuse to accept homosexuality as normal, while other nations are being attacked by western sanctions and Muslim extremism.

But the ‘Ekklesia of Jesus grows on. Amen. Psalm 69:32-33,  119:88.

Saint Stephen.

December 26th marks Saint Stephens Day.

Saint Stephen is attributed as being the first ‘Christian Martyr’ of the Church. We learn about Stephen in the book of Acts, were a group of men become jealous of his correct teaching about Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit in the individuals life. So instead of tolerating him, they form a mob and stone him to death. Acts 7:1 -8:1. Saul is there approving Stephens death, this is before his own encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Acts 9.

The reality is ‘that all believers in Jesus as the Son of God, died for our sins on the cross/stake and arose from the dead will be persecuted, if not killed. To be a real believer is not about keeping traditions or set beliefs, it is about having the faith to put them into practice. More about the doing than the saying.

Pentecost, (50-Days). Part-Two.

The Holy Ghost/Spirit (Parakletos) is only given to believers in Jesus. In times past God gave the Holy Ghost to His Prophets and people he used to fulfill his plans (Exodus 31:3, Isaiah 42:1, 57:15) and will and then he could remove the Spirit. Psalm 51:11.

But we are warned that there still remains conditions to having the Holy Ghost and that we cannot take lightly the cost of the blood shed at the final atonement of the cross. We also must not insult the Holy Ghost by continuing to live as we did before we committed our lives to Him. 1 Corinthians 3:16, Hebrews 10:26-29, James 2:26.

Pentecost (50-Days). Part-One.

Jesus has now returned to heaven. Acts 1:8. and the promised Holy Spirit/Ghost is about to be poured out on the Disciples and followers of Jesus in the Temple courts in Jerusalem, Roman occupied Israel. John 7:39, John 14:16-17, 26, John 15:26, John 16:7.

The Holy Spirit/Ghost comes like a rushing wind and tongues of fire are seen falling on these men from Galilee. The Temple is full of Jews from all over the known world of the day, who have come to Jerusalem to celebrate the first harvest festival. Acts 2:1-17.

The prophecy of Joel is also fulfilled. Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:17-21.

But this is now the beginnings of a new dispensation of the Way, the new congregation, which will later be known as the Church. The Holy Spirit/Ghost, Parakletos, comforter is only to be given to those who come to a personal faith in Jesus as the Son of God, crucified, resurrected from the dead and one day will return for them at the end of the age.

But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Joel 2:32.
