Saint Valentines Day.

14th February.

Lots of people are now in a mad rush to get their card in the post and/ or to prepare that special surprise? But what is lacking, is the fact that St Valentine is not one person but several all noted for doing their good deeds and not expecting anything in return. Luke 6:30-36. In fact that is how God wants us to do our good works, in secret and not seen by others. Some do what to be credited. Mathew 6:1-4.

But the day or evening is celebrated as one of romance and marriage, but it has become a tradition and like getting married. Many do it for the show, rather than for the commitment, and that is perhaps why so many fail when the storms come.

Marriage between a man and a woman was ordained by God. Genesis 2:18, 2:23-24. And we are warned that God does not like adultery to defile the marriage bed. Mark 10:6-9, Hebrews 13:4.

Being Single. Part-Two.

Not when Married.

It would be wrong to think that when we are married we can try to be single, this would make the partnership of two break and that is not the will of God. God does not want to split couples up or to strain relationships, the problems of living our daily lives does enough of that already.

If you are single stay that way, unless you fall in love then you will have the condideration of getting married. With the Apostle Paul both are viable alternatives. So no matter which way you choose to go, you will still be doing the right thin.

1 Corinthians 7:11, 34.

Saint Valentine. Part-Two.

A Good Wife.

The fist things to say is ‘that no one is perfect.’ All of us are sinners, failures, that’s the fact of being a human. The Bible is a book that gives the reader guidelines for living our daily lives, all the more better if we know the Lord as our personal Savior.

Today in western societies we use the word partner to describe the relationship of two people. But in the marriage of men and woman essentially that is the foundation of relationship. A good marriage means having two people who are prepared to ‘give and take.’  Psalm 128:1-4,  Proverbs 31:10-31.

Saint Valentine Part-One.

Love, Romance and Marriage.

Many people will be preparing for that special romantic day on the 14th February. They will getting that Valentine card, the red roses, the chocolates for their loved one. Perhaps the girl/boy friend, the wife/husband of many years, even the secret lover, mistress.

God ordained for man not to be alone and in the process marriage was the result of a legal union between the man and woman. Jesus emphasized Marriage. So the result of any relationship between a man and a woman must be entered in to by Marriage.  Genesis 2:18-24,  Matthew 19:4-6,  Mark 10:6-9.

Anything and everything after that is from the selfishness of the heart, wanting its wants.
