‘Desparadoe’s. Part-Two.

Dispondency.

One of the biggest blockers for believers, ‘Im not sure! ‘Should I do this or not?

Just do and see what happens and stop worrying about what those others who will not do it say. Not all we do has to have pastoral approval or the support of the Church. Having a shower, the colour of your shirt, wearing a hat, saying Hi to people.

There is plenty we do that we don’t ask for such as watching porn, playing Bingo and telling lies

Psalm 34:4,  John 12:43,  Romans 5:4,  1 Corinthians 14:1,  2 Timothy 6:11,  Hebrews 11:2.

Good Merit. Part-One.

I’m Alright.

Most people think that they are good, that they are better than most. I’s a good person, because I give to charity, go to Mass or Church, am fare with most people and try to do what is right most of the time.

Many care for their parents or others, believing that this will get them on good terms with God and they will go to heaven. But these are not the conditions that have been set down by God in relation to eternity. Yes it is good that we do good, but we must first confess that Jesus Christ, the Son of God is our own personal Saviour and that we live and move in His will, control and not our own wants and will’s. John 3:3-8,  1 Peter 1:17-19.

Saint Stephen.

December 26th marks Saint Stephens Day.

Saint Stephen is attributed as being the first ‘Christian Martyr’ of the Church. We learn about Stephen in the book of Acts, were a group of men become jealous of his correct teaching about Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit in the individuals life. So instead of tolerating him, they form a mob and stone him to death. Acts 7:1 -8:1. Saul is there approving Stephens death, this is before his own encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Acts 9.

The reality is ‘that all believers in Jesus as the Son of God, died for our sins on the cross/stake and arose from the dead will be persecuted, if not killed. To be a real believer is not about keeping traditions or set beliefs, it is about having the faith to put them into practice. More about the doing than the saying.

Good Works.

There is nothing wrong in doing good, but doing the right things and good works will not tally up your points with God to get into His good books or to heaven.  You have to confess that Jesus is the Messiah, that he died on the cross, taking your sins upon his body, rose on the third day and in returning at the end of the age to receive all the believers. 2 Corinthians 7:10.  When we say we are Christians, God expects us to apply what we know of Him. James 1:22.
