The Philippines?

Islands of disasters and Troubles!

The history of this island archipelago is that of sadness from conflicts to natural disasters, from dictatorships to epidemics and President Duterte?

The people are perhaps some of the most resilient on the planet or so it would seem, but one is sure that the pains of loss never really go away and suffering probably continues in silence?

The islands are plighted with on going terrorism in the southern islands of Mindanao and Jolo and the threat to Manilla is always there despite U.S. troops being in the country! The war on the drug cartels continue, despite some injustices but before Mr. Duterte came to office the situation was way out of hand and effected nearly every family?

Religious faith in great in this nation, it keeps many going! But to know the Lord as your personal Saviour is even more important to encourage believers to push and press on with education and science to improve their nation with innovation?

Meanwhile the Philippines needs our prayers also, especially when it is out of the media headlines!

Deuteronomy 1:38,   1 Samuel 23:16,   Psalm 119:28,   Isaiah 40:1,  Romans 1:12,   15:4,  Colossians 2:2,   1 Thessalonians 5:11,   1 Timothy 5:1,   Hebrews 3:13,   2 Peter 3:1.

Nigeria in conflict Again?

Like much of Africa!

We only hear what the media sometimes wants to tell us about what s going on in the world? The situation in Nigeria is complex as it is many other places, but one has to wonder if Iran might be trying to stir up some sectarian conflict as it probably has in Yemen?

Many nations on the continent of Africa have never really got over their break from the various colonial powers that illegally ruled them in the 19th Century? Counter revolution has been the only way for many to get was needed done instead of seeking a democratic way!

God owns our world, even thou Satan has been cast down to wonder in the remote parts of it and cause trouble working through human weakness of our inherited sinful condition! It is we who must seek the Lord for our Salvation knowing that His one and only son Jesus has made the final atonement for our sins!

Genesis 10:5,   Psalm 9:5,  17,  47:3,   59:8,   John 3:3,  14-18,   Acts 4:12,   Romans 3:22-23,   Philippians 1:30,   1 Thessalonians 2:2,   Hebrews 4:12,   20:32.

Remembering the Fallen!

The old story of human Failures?

We have always had war and always will, when politicians start to mark the past they are the ones laying the foundation for a new crises? It is hypocritical for nations to claim they have, are and will provide liberty and freedom, when even their past not so long ago was one of trading in slavery and the benifits of that trade?

Peace and peacemaking is a blessing from God, Jesus asks all believers in Him to be that role of ending arguments and even conflicts! This not for any recognition but what we know and have in God will be our reward?

Matthew 5:9,  Psalm 120:6,  Acts 7:26,  Luke 6:35.

Peace Processes. Part-One.

The Middle Ground.

There are many conflicts around our ever increasing small world, we only hear what each of our media outlets report in each country so we never get the full picture. To start a peace process we have to find a middle ground, it could be something we share but have differing opions or views on?

Some peace processes are up and running in N-Ireland, Spain, South-Africa, India and Pakistan and Colombia. These processes might not be perfect, but they are much better than full conflict.

The best peace to have between two factions is to have peace first in ones hearts with God and then we will be able to forgive eachothers misunderstandings.

Matthew 6:14-15,  18:21,  John 14:27,  James 3:18.

Crises. Part-One.

Crises and Uprisings.

We live in a world that is always changing, wither it is weather, storms or revoloution and wars. We will be suprised in our lives by new crises far and near. Europe in changing, it has been a very long time since we have seen a huge war.

At one time there were dozens of conflicts occuring across Europe and the Empires of Europe, men were callled to go here, there and everywhere to fight from all nations.

Eastern-Europe has changed and this process will continue, but beware, do not get into the comfort-zone of thinking is will not happen in the western parts.

This is our time to seek the Lord, to be in our hearts and to be secure in knowing he will forgive us and help us to have a new future.

Joshua 10:25,  Psalm 17:4,  Luke 12:17-18,   Acts 13,  26:18,  Hebrews 13:6.

Opus Dei. Part-One.

Opus Dei means one God, but it also means the work of God. This new Roman Catholic movement has been described by some in the laity as a cult and yet as a secretive society it claims many leading members of the church.

The origins of the movement started in Spain in 1928 when it was founded by a then young priest Jose Maria Escriva, at the Vincentian monastery in the capital Madrid.

The movement operates within the right-wing element or group of the Church and works through bringing peace to troubled parts of the world, such as N-Ireland, the middle-east, China, Indonesia and Muslim lands were Christian communities are being persecuted.
