Saint Valentines Day.

14th February.

Lots of people are now in a mad rush to get their card in the post and/ or to prepare that special surprise? But what is lacking, is the fact that St Valentine is not one person but several all noted for doing their good deeds and not expecting anything in return. Luke 6:30-36. In fact that is how God wants us to do our good works, in secret and not seen by others. Some do what to be credited. Mathew 6:1-4.

But the day or evening is celebrated as one of romance and marriage, but it has become a tradition and like getting married. Many do it for the show, rather than for the commitment, and that is perhaps why so many fail when the storms come.

Marriage between a man and a woman was ordained by God. Genesis 2:18, 2:23-24. And we are warned that God does not like adultery to defile the marriage bed. Mark 10:6-9, Hebrews 13:4.

Mad dog in the Sunshine.

Summer.

A time of joy and madness of doing stilly things, taking cahnces and risk that will lead one to many sad disaters. Looking at the girls or looking at the boys may lead to sex and babies, aborted or hidden.

Most families today around the world, near and far have their black sheep, stories made to cover up really sordid situations or rape, incest etc.

Jesus told the people of His day that even looking at a woman will lead to adultery? This is very strong language and a warning, because in His own earthly line we have King David and Bathsheeba, Solomon and his many wives, and quite a few more dirty men.

Matthew 5:28,  2 Samuel 11:1-4,  Genesis 20:3,  Hebrews 13:4,  Revelation 21:8.

History of Conflicts. Two.

My Religion, My Ways, I, Me My-Self.

The Apostle Paul told us in his letters to the first Christians in the New Testament that he had met many false believers. They seemed to believe, but it was there actions and reactions that revealed their real intentions.

From excluding certain believers out of fellowship, to commiting adultry at the Communion/Lord’s table to being mentioned in the Book of Revelation as the Nicolations.

It is very hard to be a believer wither one is a Catholic or a Protestant, because denominational membership means nothing to God knowing our hearts. Faith may be measured in this world by filling in a card for either Confirmation or Baptism, but only God knows our Hearts.

1 Corinthians 3:4-7,  Colossians 2:18,  1 Timothy 1:20,  2 Peter 2;1,  Revelation 2:6,  15.

Saint Valentine. Part-Three.

‘Lust is not Love.’

Sex in marriage is not lust, it is a natural loving aspect of God’s character, because that is how we produce the next generation. But it is also for our pleasure within the vows of marriage.

God does not like lust and adultery, because one leads to the other. The sad conclusion of the end result is divorce and all the pain that can go with it, especially if there are children.

It is said ‘ that many Valentine gifts on the 14th February will be given to the mistress and the boy friend, but not to the good wife and caring husband?’

Matthew 5:31-32, Exodus 21:7-11, Deuteronomy 21:10-14, Job 31:9, Psalm 81:12, Proverbs 6:24-25, 1 Corinthians 10:6-7, Ephesians 4:22,  1 John 2:16-17.
