Pentecost (50-Days). Part-One.

Jesus has now returned to heaven. Acts 1:8. and the promised Holy Spirit/Ghost is about to be poured out on the Disciples and followers of Jesus in the Temple courts in Jerusalem, Roman occupied Israel. John 7:39, John 14:16-17, 26, John 15:26, John 16:7.

The Holy Spirit/Ghost comes like a rushing wind and tongues of fire are seen falling on these men from Galilee. The Temple is full of Jews from all over the known world of the day, who have come to Jerusalem to celebrate the first harvest festival. Acts 2:1-17.

The prophecy of Joel is also fulfilled. Joel 2:28-32, Acts 2:17-21.

But this is now the beginnings of a new dispensation of the Way, the new congregation, which will later be known as the Church. The Holy Spirit/Ghost, Parakletos, comforter is only to be given to those who come to a personal faith in Jesus as the Son of God, crucified, resurrected from the dead and one day will return for them at the end of the age.

But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Joel 2:32.

Ascension.

of the Lord Jesus.

Jesus was now departing back to heaven, after spending 40-days with His disciples and followers proving to them that he had really risen from the dead. But it was now time to go. He had promised that when he went he would send the Holy Spirit/Ghost, Paraklete to comfort them. Acts 1:9-11, Luke 24:50-51.

But this was not the end.. Jesus will come back one day, the same way that He left and everyone will see him. There will be no escape. We who have a believing faith in Jesus must not loose hope of that promised return. The world without him on the other had will fear His return. Revelation 1:7.

Don’t leave….wait here.

These are the final words of Jesus before his ascension back to heaven to his disciples. They are told to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promised comforter, the pouring out of the Holy Spirit to empower the Church. Acts 1:3-5, Luke 24:44-53.

Waiting is a hard game, if you wait to long for something naturally you start to doubt.

But Jesus gave them 10 days to wait and they kept themselves busy during that period. Acts 1:6-12.

Much later those same disciples were able to give a powerful testimony of all of these tremendous events for us. 1 John 1:1-10.

Deliver us from Evil.

These words we know from the Lords prayer are very potent. Matthew 6:13 and Luke 11:4. We do live in a world full of evil, starvation, famine, wars, man made and natural such as earthquakes.

The Bible tells us that we must remove evil from around us an also not allow ourselves to fall into the temptation of it. Habakkuk 2:9, Judges 20:8. Purge is used, and so how to apply it today, to purge out all those from our community, the drug dealers, the criminal, the immoral, even the tax-dodger.

But we must also purge out on a personal level to the selfish heart, the greed and our many other failings to get right before Jesus. Galatians 1:4.
