Month of Saints.

March is upon us and its the month for Celtic saints. 1st March St. David, Wales, 5th, Saint Piran of Cornwall and the 17th Saint Patrick of Ireland. It was Patrick who really got the ball rolling for Christianity in the western fringes of the British Isles and NW-France.

All of these men risked life and limb to reach out to the pagan world around them. They brought hope and the promises of Jesus in relation to New Life and eternity. People in these societies had little hope and were much relient on pleasing deities, some times with human sacrafice. With great loss to the younger generation. But the impact of these saints has lated to this day and millions of people have been influenced for good over those generations.

Good Works.

There is nothing wrong in doing good, but doing the right things and good works will not tally up your points with God to get into His good books or to heaven.  You have to confess that Jesus is the Messiah, that he died on the cross, taking your sins upon his body, rose on the third day and in returning at the end of the age to receive all the believers. 2 Corinthians 7:10.  When we say we are Christians, God expects us to apply what we know of Him. James 1:22.

Saint Valentines Day.

14th February.

Lots of people are now in a mad rush to get their card in the post and/ or to prepare that special surprise? But what is lacking, is the fact that St Valentine is not one person but several all noted for doing their good deeds and not expecting anything in return. Luke 6:30-36. In fact that is how God wants us to do our good works, in secret and not seen by others. Some do what to be credited. Mathew 6:1-4. But the day or evening is celebrated as one of romance and marriage, but it has become a tradition and like getting married. Many do it for the show, rather than for the commitment, and that is perhaps why so many fail when the storms come. Marriage between a man and a woman was ordained by God. Genesis 2:18, 2:23-24. And we are warned that God does not like adultery to defile the marriage bed. Mark 10:6-9, Hebrews 13:4.

New Things.

Life is an ever changing process for us all, every day it brings us new things, challenges and problems and we try our best to solve them. But God is always bringing new things to believers to as His Holy spirit is always moving. Those who trust, but see no change are stuck in the smugness, comfort zone or stagnation pool. Isaiah 48:6-8, Romans 4:17, Titus 3:5.
